It seems that typing the information is so fast and convenient, so most young people don’t pay attention to write the words by their hands. The one who writes the good words will impress the other person. As the saying that writing is the reflection of a person’s character, so we should not abandon our tradition.
The Good Sides Of Reading
People have to spend so many years to go to school before they can be independent and earn money. We are told that reading books is good for us, but the fact is that we may find many bosses go to work in the early age and they don’t read many books. In fact, reading books doesn’t mean the person can make a lot of money, but reading books can broaden a person vision. Books provide us all kinds of knowledge, we can see the different sceneries, reading the books is like traveling to different places. What’s more, we can considerate things in different viewpoints. When we face difficulties, we will treat them in the peaceful way, we won’t lose our way, because we believe things will change one day, we have hope in our hearts. Reading books makes us have a good attitude towards life.
The Pay and The Gain
Many years ago, the news that an Australian travel institution recruited a worker to guard an island, the worker could not only enjoy the sunshine and the beach, but also could get the very high pay in half a year. People were crazy about the job, they wanted to be the worker. Two years passed, people saw the news about the recruit, it was said that the lucky guy became the guider of the island, but he was not that happy, because he was alone in the island, which suffered him. The high pay job always has the reason, as the saying that no pain, no gain, the high salary comes from hard work. Just like our study, if we want to do well, we must have to study hard. The pay brings the gain, it is very fair.
Morning In My Hometown
My hometown is a beautiful place, it is in the countryside, because it is far away from the city, so the environment is very natural. The water is very clean, I can even see the fish and the mountain has many green trees. But I like the morning best, because the air is very fresh and there are voices from nature. The frogs and other animals always are calling in the morning, I like listening to their voices, they sound like the songs for me. What’s more, the fog makes the country look like the wonderland, I will never know who will come to me until it is close to me, I like this mysterious feeling.

The Bat and the Weasels
A BAT who fell upon the ground and was caught by a Weasel pleaded to be spared his life. The Weasel refused, saying that he was by nature the enemy of all birds. The Bat assured him that he was not a bird, but a mouse, and thus was set free. Shortly afterwards the Bat again fell to the ground and was caught by another Weasel, whom he likewise entreated not to eat him. The Weasel said that he had a special hostility to mice. The Bat assured him that he was not a mouse, but a bat, and thus a second time escaped.
It is wise to turn circumstances to good account.

The Ass and the Grasshopper
AN ASS having heard some Grasshoppers chirping, was highly enchanted; and, desiring to possess the same charms of melody, demanded what sort of food they lived on to give them such beautiful voices. They replied, "The dew." The Ass resolved that he would live only upon dew, and in a short time died of hunger.

The Wolf and the Lamb
WOLF, meeting with a Lamb astray from the fold, resolved not to lay violent hands on him, but to find some plea to justify to the Lamb the Wolf's right to eat him. He thus addressed him:"Sirrah, last year you grossly insulted me." "Indeed," bleated the Lamb in a mournful tone of voice, "I was not then born." Then said the Wolf , "You feed in my pasture." "No, good sir," replied the Lamb, "I have not yet tasted grass." Again said the Wolf, "You drink of my well." "No," exclaimed the Lamb, "I never yet drank water, for as yet my mother's milk is both food and drink to me." Upon which the Wolf seized him and ate him up, saying, "Well! I won't remain supperless, even though you refute every one of my imputations."

The Traveler and His Dog
A TRAVELER about to set out on a journey saw his Dog stand at the door stretching himself. He asked him sharply: "Why do you stand there gaping? Everything is ready but you, so come with me instantly." The Dog, wagging his tail, replied: "O, master! I am quite ready; it is you for whom I am waiting."
The loiterer often blames delay on his more active friend.
The Dog and the Shadow
A DOG, crossing a bridge over a stream with a piece of flesh in his mouth, saw his own shadow in the water and took it for that of another Dog, with a piece of meat double his own in size. He immediately let go of his own, and fiercely attacked the other Dog to get his larger piece from him. He thus lost both: that which he grasped at in the water, because it was a shadow; and his own, because the stream swept it away.
How to read quickly and efficiently
Are you still an inefficient reader who is obssessed by your slow reading speed and that what you read is always forgotten after a while. In the book USE YOUR HEAD, the author talked about the skills of reading and learning efficiently.
It consists of two steps, preparation and application. The stage of preparation comprises skimming through, arranging time, five-minute notes, raising questions and setting your goals, while the application stage is composed of overall skimming or preview, intensive reading and review. The purpose of skimming through is to gain an overall impression of the book to arrange time reasonably and consider which part to read. Five-minute notes is to noting down all you know about this topic and meanwhile, to activate your storage system. It's better to work out a mindmap according to the knowledge you have. Then you can raise some questions and set your goals of reading. The more specific and detailed your questions and goals are , the better you will do in the application step. This is question-oriented reading, always bear the questions in your mind.
In the application stage, overall skimming is to know more major parts by skimming the summary of each chapter, contents, titles, pictures, charts, forms and so on. Preview is to try to grasp more important points in the book by reading the beginning or ending of each paragraph and chapter. Intensive reading is the core of the whole reading process. Now you need to concentrate on the parts where you can find the answers for your questions and read carefully and thoroughly. The last step review is also crucial, it determines how much knowledge will remain in your mind. Five times' reviewing is highly recommended by the author, according to the rule of memorizing. Once you do it, your short-term memory will be transfering to long-term memory, which gurantees you gain the most from the book you read.
The reading skills mentioned above is very effective and can be used both in adults' learning and children's textbook learning. Let's be quick to apply this in our daily lives. I bet you will gain a lot from these skills.
