经济学的顶级期刊有：American Economic ReviewEconometricaJournal of Political EconomyQuarterly Journal of EconomicsReview of Economic Studies等经济学是研究人类社会在各个发展阶段上的各种经济活动和各种相应的经济关系及其运行、发展的规律的学科。经济学核心思想是物质稀缺性和有效利用资源，可分为两大主要分支，微观经济学和宏观经济学。经济学起源希腊色诺芬、亚里士多德为代表的早期经济学，经过亚当·斯密、马克思、凯恩斯等经济学家的发展，经济学衍生出了演化证券学、行为经济学等交叉边缘学科。随着国民经济的高速发展，经济学研究和应用受到国家和民众的关注越来越高，理论体系和应用不断完善和发展。一般情况下，经济学理论建基在理性的“极大化”这假设之上，每个人都会在局限下选取对自己最有利的选择。在经济学理论中的假设真假并不重要，只要假设推论出来的可被验证含意，能够解释及推测现实世界，我们就接受这个理论。但是奥地利经济学的理论是建立在人是有目的的行动的行动公理基础之上。其学派旗帜鲜明的反对把理性状态和极大化作为经济学的逻辑前提。凡是有解释能力的理论，都一定有被事实推翻的可能性（refutable by facts），但未被事实推翻。 我们永远不能证明一个理论，因为下一次的事件总会有机会推翻该理论。

目前国内认可的国外期刊数据库有 SSCI, SCI,EISSCI[1]即社会科学引文索引，SCI的姊妹篇，亦由美国科学信息研究所创建，是目前世界上可以用来对不同国家和地区的社会科学论文的数量进行统计分析的大型检索工具，是世界最重要的社会科学期刊索引。SCI(Science Citation Index)是由美国科学信息研究所(ISI)1961年创办出版的引文数据库。SCI(科学引文索引)、EI(工程索引 )、ISTP(科技会议录索引) 是世界著名的三大科技文献检索系统，是国际公认的进行科学统计与科学评价的主要检索工具，其中以SCI最为重要。EI检索，EI检索是什么意思？其实就是全球范围内的一个数据库，类似中国的知网。 但是EI可不是什么文章都录入的，被录入的文章都代表着权威与高质量。所以EI被称为全球核心，被每个国家认可。一般用作：硕士毕业、博士毕业、评副教授、评正教授使用。作者在国际会议或者国际杂志上发表论文被EI收录后，国内一些权威机构可以出具EI收录证书给作者。EI检索就是工程索引：《工程索引》（The Engineering Index，简称EI）创刊于1884年，是美国工程信息公司（Engineering information I）出版的著名工程技术类综合性检索工具。EI检索每月出版1期，文摘3万至4万条；每期附有主题索引与作者索引；每年还另外出版年卷本和年度索引，年度索引还增加了作者单位索引。收录文献几乎涉及工程技术各个领域。例如：动力、电工、电子、自动控制、矿冶、金属工艺、机械制造、管理、土建、水利、教育工程等。EI检索具有综合性强、资料来源广、地理覆盖面广、报道量大、报道质量高、权威性强等特点。
