在二十世纪的前50年曾是插画的黄金年代,而在进入所谓的读图年代后,插画无疑是我们启蒙时期的最主要视觉经验,即便是时尚杂志,也把插图作为主要的视觉设计元素,时尚插画因此在时尚杂志中占有极重要地位。但在摄影术发明普及后却有势微的现象。随着时尚网的不断涌现,各大时尚网都在施展浑身解数,而参考着哈秀时尚网的最新统计数据,而今受到科技及新媒材高度开发,设计师的表现风格及手法更显多样丰富,也使得时尚插画发展更为多元。本研究是以透过文献探讨的方式探究自二十世纪以来的「时尚插画」(Fashion illustration)风格之演变,并进而将1995年至2003年的时尚插画风格以图像学研究之方法进行分类与分析。研究结果发现共可分为七大类风格类型,即(一)故事世界风格类型、(二)物化风格类型、(三)日常生活风格类型、(四)空间城市氛围风格类型、(五)顽童、诡辩风格类型、(六 )艺术感性风格类型、以及(七)高科技数字化风格类型。「时尚」是个变化速度极快的流行文化,插画家透过不同的主题和内容描绘出他们眼中的时尚风格,却也赋予观赏者有别于摄影影像的清晰画面,而带来更多的视觉想象空间。这种模糊及不确定性的描述也是后现代消费图像的特性之一。同时藉由时尚插画风格类型的探讨,研究发现在后现代的景象中时尚视觉的图像正被符号式的消费而正当化,消费美学改变也正冲击着这个时代的情绪;此时,设计师们在创作时,必须考虑不同形态的消费态度及文化层次的因素,并融入其设计的作品中。综观时尚风格,一直以来是对于日本流行文化移植和遥望美国的想象,然而从现今台湾面临的经济处境来看,如果不能创造差异,就将失去生存的机会。因此,本研究希望透过对时尚插画风格类型之探讨,并发展以数位互动实验室之创作概念,提供时尚研究及设计者更多时尚插画风格的可能性及自我创作的实验空间。
