英文论文的格式共六点：标题、提纲、摘要、正文、文中引述、文献目录。
标题：一篇较长的英语论文(如英语毕业论文)一般都需要标题页,其书写格式如下:第一行标题与打印纸顶端的距离约为打印纸全长的三分之一,与下行(通常为by,居中)的距离则为5cm,第三、第四行分别为作者姓名及日期(均居中)。
如果该篇英语论文是学生针对某门课程而写,则在作者姓名与日期之间还需分别打上教师学衔及其姓名(如:Dr./)及本门课程的编号或名称(如:English 734或British Novel)。打印时,如无特殊要求,每一行均需double space,即隔行打印,行距约为(论文其他部分行距同此)。
提纲：英语论文提纲页包括论题句及提纲本身,其规范格式如下:先在第一行(与打印纸顶端的距离仍为左右)的始端打上 Thesis 一词及冒号,空一格后再打论题句,回行时左边须与论题句的第一个字母上下对齐。
主要纲目以大写罗马数字标出,次要纲目则依次用大写英文字母、阿拉伯数字和小写英文字母标出。各数字或字母后均为一句点,空出一格后再打该项内容的第一个字母；处于同一等级的纲目,其上下行左边必须对齐。
需要注意的是,同等重要的纲目必须是两个以上,即:有Ⅰ应有Ⅱ,有A应有B,以此类推。如果英文论文提纲较长,需两页纸,则第二页须在右上角用小写罗马数字标出页码,即ii(第一页无需标页码)。
摘要：英文摘要是应用符合英文语法的文字语言，提供论文内容梗概为目的的短文。（内容基本与中文摘要相同，但不用完全逐句对应）。
英文题目、摘要、关键词自成一页（1页即可），放在中文摘要页之后。英文字体与行间距： 统一使用“西文字体”中的“Times New Roman”，倍行间距。
英文题目： 使用三号字加粗。英文摘要： “Absract”顶格，使用四号字，并加粗。英文摘要具体内容使用四号字。英文关键词： “Key Words”顶格，使用四号字并加粗。
正文：有标题页和提纲页的英语论文,其正文第一页的规范格式为:论文标题居中,其位置距打印纸顶端约5cm,距正文第一行约。段首字母须缩进五格,即从第六格打起。
正文第一页不必标页码(但应计算其页数),自第二页起,必须在每页的右上角(即空出第一行,在其后部)打上论文作者的姓,空一格后再用阿拉伯数字标出页码；阿拉伯数字(或其最后一位)应为该行的最后一个空格。
在打印正文时尚需注意标点符号的打印格式,即:句末号(句号、问号及感叹号)后应空两格,其他标点符号后则空一格。
文中引述：正确引用作品原文或专家、学者的论述是写好英语论文的重要环节；既要注意引述与论文的有机统一,即其逻辑性,又要注意引述格式 （即英语论文参考文献）的规范性。
引述别人的观点,可以直接引用,也可以间接引用。无论采用何种方式,论文作者必须注明所引文字的作者和出处。美国学术界通行的做法是在引文后以圆括弧形式注明引文作者及出处。
文献目录：论文作者在正文之后必须提供论文中全部引文的详细出版情况,即文献目录页。美国高校一般称此页为 Works Cited, 其格式须注意下列几点:目录页应与正文分开,另页打印,置于正文之后。
目录页应视为英语论文的一页,按论文页码的顺序在其右上角标明论文作者的姓和页码；如果条目较多,不止一页,则第一页不必标出作者姓和页码(但必须计算页数),其余各页仍按顺序标明作者姓和页码。
标题Works Cited与打印纸顶端的距离约为,与第一条目中第一行的距离仍为；各条目之间及各行之间的距离亦为,不必留出更多空白。
各条目内容顺序分别为作者姓、名、作品名、出版社名称、出版地、出版年份及起止页码等；各条目应严格按各作者姓的首字母顺序排列,但不要给各条目编码,也不必将书条与杂志、期刊等条目分列。各条目第一行需顶格打印,回行时均需缩进五格,以将该条目与其他条目区分开来。
英语论文摘要又称文摘，是论文的重要组成部分，它是以提供文献内容梗概为目的，不加评论和补充解释，简明、确切地记述文献重要内容的短文。摘要应具有独立性和自明性，并拥有与文献同等量的主要信息，即不需阅读全文，就可获得重要的信息。
摘要通常置于文题之后，文章之首。在论文发表后，论文摘要常被文献检索系统所收集。英语论文摘要一般为200-300单词，并有与英文摘要表达观点一致的中文摘要与之对应。
首先，用英语撰写，格式如下1）封面，2）任务书，3）开题报告, 4) 英文摘要及关键词(Abstract，Keywords)，5）目录（Outline），6）正文，7）注释（Notes）,8）参考文献（Bibliography）， 9) 致谢(Acknowledgement其他格式各学校规定不同，主要是格式的问题可以考虑写英美文化差异，但最好涉及到某以小的方面论文最忌讳大而全，要涉及到具体问题研究容易得好得成绩。

论文正文的格式
1.论文正文包括引言和正文论述两部分。引言又称前言、序言和导言，用在论文的开头。 引言一般要概括地写出作者意图，说明选题的目的和意义， 并指出论文写作的范围。引言要短小精悍、紧扣主题。
论文正文：正文是论文的主体，正文应包括论点、论据、 论证过程和结论。主体部分包括以下内容：
(1)提出-论点;
(2)分析问题-论据和论证;
(3)解决问题-论证与步骤;
(4)结论。
2.论文中的序号层次及格式为：
1××××：3号黑体，居中
××××××××××××××××××××××：内容用小4号宋体。

3.论文中的图、表、公式、算式格式
论文中的图、表、公式、算式格式等，一律用阿拉伯数字分别依序连编编排序号。序号分章依序编码，其标注形式应便于互相区别，可分别为：图、表、公式()等。
4.注释
注释是论文中对某1问题、概念、观点等的简单解释、说明、评价、提示等，如不宜在正文中出现，可采用加注的形式。“注”应编排序号，“注”的序号以同1页内出现的先后次序单独排序，用①、②、③……依次标示在需加注处，以上标形式表示。“注”的说明文字以序号开头。“注”的具体说明文字列于同1页内的下端，与正文之间用1左对齐、占页面1/4宽长度的横线分隔。论文中以任何形式引用的资料，均须标出引用出处。
5.结论
结论是最终的，总体的结论，不是正文中各段的小结的简单重复，结论应该准确、完整、明确、精炼。
电大毕业论文正文格式要求
(一) 毕业论文应做到观点明确，材料翔实，论证有力，结构完整，逻辑严谨，语言通顺。毕业论文的形式应为学术论文。调查报告、工作总结及文学作品等各类非学术的文章不能作为毕业论文。正文字数不少于35字左右。
(二) 毕业论文应由学生本人在指导教师的指导下独立完成，杜绝一切抄袭、剽窃行为。毕业论文应由以下项目构成
1. 目录 是毕业论文的必备项目。
2. 摘要 摘要是论文的内容“不加注释和评论的简短陈述”。摘要应是对论文内容的高度概括，不宜写得过长。一般限制在15-2字，不分段。
3. 关键词 关键词是从论文中选取出来用以标示论文主要内容的词语。一篇论文应有3-5个关键词，以显著的字符令起一行，排在摘要下方。
4. 正文 毕业论文的内容和结构比较复杂，为使文章的脉络更为清晰，毕业论文的主体部分要加上小标题，标示各个部分的`内容要点。
5. 注释 毕业论文的注释一律采用尾注的形式。
6. 参考文献 参考文献是评定论文作者的研究状况及钻研程度的一个重要依据。所以毕业论文所列的参考文献的数目要不少于6部(篇)。
一、 内容项及要求
一份完整的毕业论文应当包括以下项目：封面、内容摘要、关键词、目录、正文、注释、参考文献。具体而言：
1.封面：封面既可以提供论文的有关信息，又可以起到保护论文资料的作用，封面所登载的内容主要有：
(1)题目：要用二号字标于显著位置。
(2)学生资料：包括论文作者姓名、学号、专业、教育层次、所属教学单位名称等。
(3)指导教师姓名
2.内容摘要：摘要是论文内容“不加注释和评论的简短陈述”，应当具有客观性和简明性，字数为2～4字。如果申请学士学位，还需译成不少于15字的英文内容摘要。
3.关键词：关键词是从论文中选取出来用以标示论文主要内容的名词性术语。一篇论文应有3-5个关键词，以显著的字符另起一行，排在内容摘要的左下方。
4.目录：毕业论文要设目录，目录标题后要表明页码(一般标到二级标题即可)。
5.正文：正文至少应包括序论、本论和结论三个部分。这三个部分在行文上可以不明确标示。正文的各个章节或部分应以若干层级标题来标识以使文章的脉络更为清晰。毕业论文字数一般不少于5字，不超过1字。
6.参考文献和注释
参考文献是作者写作论文时所参考的文献书目，一般集中列表于文末;注释是对论文正文中某一特定内容的进一步解释或补充说明，分为脚注和尾注，脚注位于该页的页脚，尾注位于文章正文内容的后面。参考文献序号用方括号标注，而注释用数字加圆圈标注(如①、②)。
二者均包括以下项目：
序号。参考文献用[1][2]方式，注释用①、②方式。

条理要清楚。总结是写给人看的，条理不清，人们就看不下去，即使看了也不知其所以然，这样就达不到总结的目的。
