An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer (contractor) of his plans to leave the house building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family. He would miss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by.

The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and usedinferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end his career.

When the carpenter finished his work and the builder came to inspect the house, the contractor handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "This is your house," he said, "my gift to you."

What a shock! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently. Now he had to live in the home he had built none too well.

So it is with us. We build our lives in a distracted way, reacting rather than acting, willing to put up less than the best. At important points we do not give the job our best effort. Then with a shock we look at the situation we have created and find that we are now living in the house we have built. If we had realized, we would have done it differently.

Think of yourself as the carpenter. Think about your house. Each day you hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Build wisely. It is the only life you will ever build. Even if you live it for only one day more, that day deserves to be lived graciously and withdignity. The plaque on the wall says, "Life is a do-it-yourself project."

Who could say it more clearly? Your life today is the result of your attitudes and choices in the past. Your life tomorrow will be the result of your attitudes and the choices you make today.

A man had a little daughter—an only and much-loved child. He lived for her—she was his life. So when she became ill, he became like a man possessed, moving heaven and earth to bring about her restoration to health.

His best efforts, however, proved unavailing and the child died. The father became a bitter recluse, shutting himself away from his many friends and refusing every activity that might restore his poise and bring him back to his normal self. But one night he had a dream.

He was in heaven, witnessing a grand pageant of all the little child angels. They were marching in a line passing by the Great White Throne. Every white-robed angelic child carried a candle. He noticed that one child‘s candle was not lighted. Then he saw that the child with the dark candle was his own little girl. Rushing to her, he seized her in his arms, caressed her tenderly, and then asked, “How is it, darling, that your candle alone is unlighted?” “Daddy, they often relight it, but your tears always put it out.”

Just then he awoke from his dream. The lesson was crystal clear, and its effects were immediate. From that hour on he was not a recluse, but mingled freely and cheerfully with his former friends and associates. No longer would his darling‘s candle be extinguished by his useless tears.

We can take the mysterious, hazy future and carve out of it anything that we can imagine, just like a sculptor carves a statue from a shapeless stone.

We are all in the position of the farmer. If we plant a good seed, we reap a good harvest. If our seed is poor and full of weeds, we reap a useless crop. If we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.

I want the future to be better than the past. I don’t want it contaminated by the mistakes and errors with which history is filled. We should all be concerned about the future because that is where we will spend the reminder of our lives.

The past is gone and static. Nothing we can do will change it. The future is before us and dynamic. Everything we do will effect it.

Each day will brings with it new frontiers, in our homes and in our businesses, if we will only recognize them. We are just at the beginning of the progress in every field of human endeavor.

Everybody Knows:

You can’t be all things to all people;

You can’t do all things at once;

You can’t do all things equally well;

You can’t do all things better than everyone else;

Your humanity is showing just like everyone else’s.

咱们不行能成为每个人心中那个完人;

咱们也不行能一会儿就完结一切工作;

咱们不行能总比别人强;

So:

You have to find out who you are, and be that;

You have to decide what comes first, and do that;

You have to discover your strengths, and use them;

You have to learn not to compete with others,

Because no one else is in the contest of *being you*.

因而:

咱们有必要发现那个实在自个,并展示它;

咱们有必要明晰自个首要使命,并去实行它;

咱们有必要发现自个优势,并去利用它;

Then:

You will have learned to accept your own uniqueness;

You will have learned to set priorities and make decisions;

You will have learned to live with your limitations;

You will have learned to give yourself the respect that is due;

And you’ll be a most vital mortal.

那么:

你将学会承受你自个唯一性;

你将学会区别业务主要性,并决断地做出选择;

你将学会承受自个并非圣人;

你将学会给予你自个应得尊敬;

Dare to believe:

That you are a wonderful, unique person;

That you are a once-in-all-history event;

That it’s more than a right, it’s your duty, to be who you are;

That life is not a problem to solve, but a gift to cherish;

And you’ll be able to stay one up on what used to get you down.

你是超卓,有特性;

你是这个历史上绝无仅有尤物;

做一个实在自个,这不仅仅是你权利,它更是你责任;

日子并不是一个待处理疑问,而是一个需要去爱惜礼品;

If your life feels like it is lacking the power that you want and the motivation that you need, sometimes all you have to do is shift your point of view.

Your life can be enhanced, and your happiness enriched, when you choose to change your perspective. Don’t leave your future to chance, or wait for things to get better mysteriously on their own. You must go in the direction of your hopes and aspirations. Begin to build your confidence, and work through problems rather than avoid them. Remember that power is not necessarily control over situations, but the ability to deal with whatever comes your way.

Always believe that good things are possible, and remember that mistakes can be lessons that lead to discoveries. Take your fear and transform it into trust; learn to rise above anxiety and doubt. Turn your “worry hours” into “productive hours”. Take the energy that you have wasted and direct it toward every worthwhile effort that you can be involved in.

There lies in the heart of every man and woman a quiet hunger:a longing for an earth shaking significance.

It can be heard in the quiet, most unedited times like when our head hits the pillow at night. As the pressures of the day fade away the voice catches our attention: “I was meant for more than this, there has got to be something more.”

Many people have learned to accept a life of quiet resignation, committed to maintaining the status-quo. But still, in the times we least expect it, we hear that distant call again: a call for meaning, purpose, passion, significance. It continues to haunt us, to stalk us, and as we try to silence it with reason and maturity we find that indeed, it is a fire within our bones and it will not yield.

Our suspicions are correct. There is a larger story and we have a role to play in it. It has been said that what a man does during his life shall echo throughout eternity.

If you are ready to find your purpose, find the voice. Go back to the places that you have heard it most clear. For some it comes in the early morning, before the cares of the day have drowned them out. For others it comes through music, or movies, or books, or it is found on a walk through the woods or on the side of a mountain.

We'are just beginning  "We are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book whose pages are infinite..." I do not know who wrote those words,but I have always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want to make can take the mysterious,hazy future and carve out of it anything that we can imagine,just as a sculptor carves a statue from a shapeless stone.

Today i shed my old skin which hath, too long, suffered the bruises of failure and the wounds of mediority.

today i am born anew and my birthplace is a vineyard where there is fruit for all.

today i will pluck grapes of wisdom from the tallest and fullest vines in the vineyard,for these were planted by the wisest of my profession who have come before me,generation upon generation.

today i will savor the taste of grapes from these vines and verily i will swallow the seed of success buried in each and new life will sprout within me.

the career i have chosen is laden with opportunity yet it is fraught with heartbreak and despair and the bodies of those who have failed, were they piled one atop another, would cast a shadow down upon all the pyramids of the earth.

yet i will not fail, as the others, for in my hands i now hold the charts which will guide through perilous waters to shores which only yesterday seemed but a dream.

Failure no longer will be my payment for struggle. just as nature made no provision for my body to tolerate pain neither has it made any provision for my life to suffer failure. failure, like pain, is alien to my life. in the past i accepted it as i accepted pain. now i reject it and i am prepared for wisdom and principles which will guide me out of the shadows into the sunlight of wealth, position, and happiness far beyond my most extravagant dreams until even the golden apples in the garden of hesperides will seem no more than my just reward.

time teaches all things to him who lives forever but i have not the luxury of eternity. yet within my allotted time i must practice the art of patience for nature acts never in haste. to create the olive, king of all trees, a hundred years is required. an onion plant is old in nine weeks. i have lived as an onion plant. it has not pleased me. now i wouldst become the greatest of olive trees and, in truth, the greatest of salesman.

and how will this be accomplished? for i have neither the knowledge nor the experience to achieve the greatness and already i have stumbled in ignorance and fallen into pools of self-pity. the answer is simple. i will commence my journey unencumbered with either the weight of unnecessary knowledge or the handicap of meaningless experience. nature already has supplied me with knowledge and instinct far greater than any beast in the forest and the value of experience is overrated, usually by old men who nod wisely and speak stupidly.

in truth, experience teaches thoroughly yet her course of instruction devours men

Let's take steps to banish some of the most mon negative thoughts many of us repeat to ourselves. YOUTH Samuel Ullman Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep spring of life. Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusia *** wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust. Whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being’s heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing childlike appetite for what’s next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station: so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the Infinite, so long are you young. When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynici *** and the ice of pessimi *** , then you‘ve grown old, even at 20. But as long as your aerials are up, to catch waves of optimi *** , there is hope you may die young at 80.

How I Learn English To a Chinese,the task of learning English well is not I,like many other English learners,have met with difficulties in learning English during the past seven I managed to overe them and made much progress. The spelling and meaning of words can be said to be the first difficulty I met as a I found my own way to deal with to spelling,I never copied a new work again and again to remember it,but tried to find its relevance to the sound.【irrelevant adj.】 In fact,as long as I can read the word out,I can write it to the meaning,I rarely recite its Chinese translation but often put the word into the sentence to learn its you use a word quite often,its spelling and meaning will be no all,we are learning English in order to use it. As you slowly open your eyes, look around, notice where the light es into your room; listen carefully, see if there are new sounds you can recognize; feel with your body and spirit, and see if you can sense the freshness in the air. Yes, yes, yes, it’s a new day, it’s a different day, and it’s a bright day! And most importantly, it’s a new beginning for your life, a beginning where you are going to make new decisions, take new actions, make new friends, and take your life to a totally unprecedented(空前的) level. In your mind’s eye, you can see clearly the things you want to have, the paces you intend to go, the relationships you desire to develop, and the positions you aspire(励志) to reach. You can hear your laughters of joy and happiness on the day when everything happens as you dream. You can see the *** iles on the people around you when the magic moment strikes. You can feel your face is getting red, your heart is beating fast, and your blood is rushing all over your body, to every single corner of your being! You know all this is real as long as you are confident, passionate and mitted!(效忠的) And you are confident, you are passionate, you are mitted! You will no longer fear making new sounds, showing new facial expressions, using your body in new ways, approaching new people, and asking new questions. You will live every single day of your life with absolute passion, and you will show your passion through the words you speak and the actions you take. You will focus all your time and effort on the most important goals of your life. You will never suumb(屈服,屈从) to challenges of hardships. You will never waver(动摇) in your pursuit of excellence. After all, you are the best, and you deserve the best! As your coach and friend, I can assure you the door to all the best things in the world will open to you, but the key to that door is in your hand. You must do your part. You must faithfully follow the plans you make and take the actions you plan; you must never quit and you must never fear. I know you must do it, you can do it, you will do it, and you will sueed! Now stand firm and tall, make a fist, get excited, and yell it out: I must do it! I can do it! I will do it! I will sueed! I must do it! I can do it! I will do it! I will sueed! I must do it! I can do it! I will do it! I will sueed!
